OMG DO IT. YOU WONT REGRET IT. AT LEAST GIVE IT A TRY.
Day 30 – Your favorite classical song. Find it on Youtube and share it.
My aunt is awesome and decided to brain wash me with music at an early age. So she bought me Fantasia when I was only like 3 years old. I was obsessed with this movement (mostly because my younger self was like “OMG. PRETTY HORSES”) but Im still rather fond of it today. I like to think that my obsessive watching of Fantasia from an early age contributed to my future music nerdy-ness.
I have no idea what my favorite chord is. Im sure it exists, because I sometimes hear a chord and Im like “OMG. This is heavenly” ….but I have no idea what chord that is.
My favorite note (on my flute) is a high G. Its the only one the high notes I can count on coming out nicely every time, and it’s even in tune! F# and E natural can go die in a hole somewhere.
Favorite Key Signature: Bb…Lol. Because it’s easy to play in.
Favorite Time Signature: 7/8…..Its a pain to play in….but there is just something so catchy about it…..
Day 27 – A picture of you and your instrument together.
My flutey!
His name is Claude.
hahaha, this is almost a hard one to answer in words. But here it goes,
~I’ve gained friends I wouldn’t otherwise have
~It has helped me express myself
~It constantly de-stresses my day.
~It expresses beautiful things that I don’t think could be expressed any other way.
~It just makes me incredibly happy inside.
Well, when I was 7. I was shoved into fiddle lessons against my will. But then I realized I actually liked music, so it all worked out.
When I was finally old enough to sign up for band in 5th grade, it wasn’t even a hard decision. I knew I wanted to do more music and that was that. Of course, I couldn’t play fliddle in band, I knew I had to pick out a different instrument to play, so I choose the clarinet
I played clarinet for a year and a half, but the clarinet disagreed with me so I switched to flute.
One of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
I dont plan on doing very much. I never planed on music being my career or anything.
Ill probably just find a nice community band somewhere and settle down with them.
Maybe Ill try to learn some new instruments as well. =D
Ummm. Im not sure I would switch instruments. I always really loved the flute. Im happy I choose it.
Perhaps if I could go back and do it over again, I wouldn’t have wasted a year and a half playing clarinet though (Not that I don’t like the clarinet. Our love was just never meant to be) and instead just straight up started with flute.
I also wish I picked up saxophone sooner and played in Jazz band more. That was fun.
Of course, I’ve also always wished I played piano and a brass instrument of some sort as well. Someday maybe. =D
People who talk really loudly and constantly during rehearsal.
Day 21 – A picture of your favorite band shirt.
Marching band (which Im not in) is the band with the really cool shirts. Concert Band only has fairly plain polo shirts with a logo in the corner.
(And yes, I have giant music notes taped to my closet door. Be jealous)
Right now Im in two different bands.
My conductor for one of them is terrible. (I like him as a person….but I HATE his conducting style)
So this conductor just sorta makes like circles with his baton and Im like, “I DONT KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS.”
Anyways, since I can never tell where the hell the down beat is, I’ve learned Im just better off not looking at him at all. (If I do watch him, I just get confused.)
This is starting to build a bad habit of not paying attention to conductors at all. (Even conductors who know what they’re doing). I should probably work on watching more.
Does John Williams count?
Im going to say he does.
I don’t care if he’s ripped off other composers. I love everything he’s written.

This is the one I had. (And the blue one that comes right after it)
I still have them. I think they’re burried back home somewhere in my desk.
Although, think the red one I have is for clarinet, not flute. (Way back in middle school, I orginally played clarinet for like a year and a half. But I didn’t like it. So I switched to flute).
I caught onto the the flute rather quickly so I may have just started with the blue one.
You know….I dont think I’ve ever done that.
Maybe it’s because Im a band nerd and not an orchestra dork, but I honestly don’t know that much about classical music. (With the exception being stuff by either Handel or Copland…since I took classes on both of those composers)
Like, don’t get me wrong. I love classical music. I listen to it often. But when I listen to it, I tend to not pay attention too much to who wrote it. Plus, there’s just soooooo much of it out there. I feel like I don’t know enough about any one composer to accurately say they are my favorite.
I dunno. If I have to pick someone…..lets go with Tchaikovsky. Even If Im kinda “meh” about ballet….I do love ballet music.
